John Waromi

John Waromi was born and raised in Jayapura, in the Ambai traditions of the island south of Biak, West Papua. He studied Law at Cendrawasih University, then joined Taruna Angkatan Laut in a scout training on the sailing ship KRI Dewa Ruci, staying on to work at the National Scout Headquarters in Jakarta. After this he went on to study theatre and art at Bengkel Teater Rendra and began writing while living at Gorong-Gorong Budaya, Depok in West Java. Now he lives in Papua and dedicates his time to writing.
